DETAILS

Beyond the table.

Where Leon is stronger

  • Agent-neutral: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and 40 others side by side, not one vendor.
  • Small and fast: a 23 to 27 MB download, millisecond history search, no indexing step.
  • Works beside whatever editor you already use.

Where Cursor is stronger

  • Agents inside the editor with diffs, PRs and /best-of-n model comparison.
  • Cloud VMs with environments, secrets and snapshots for long tasks.
  • Phone, web, Slack, GitHub and Linear surfaces for the same agents.

Honest limits of Leon here

  • Not an IDE. The built-in file editor has syntax highlighting, search and Markdown preview, but no code completion, no language server and no inline AI edits. No /best-of-n.
  • No cloud VMs. Long tasks run on machines you own.
  • No Design Mode or visual agent verification built in.
WHO IT IS FOR

Choose honestly.

[ CHOOSE LEON ]

  • You already have an editor and want agents supervised in one neutral place.
  • You compare Claude against Codex against OpenCode on the same task.
  • You want a small install with no credit pool to manage.

[ CHOOSE CURSOR ]

  • You want agents where you edit, with diffs and PRs in the same window.
  • You hand long tasks to cloud VMs and check them from your phone.
  • You compare models with /best-of-n instead of by hand.
MIGRATION

Switching takes minutes.

Both tools run the same repos and the same agent CLIs.

  • Keep Cursor for editing. Add Leon for supervision across repos and machines.
  • Same worktrees and branches. Leon reads the repos you already open in Cursor.
  • Agent history for Claude Code, Codex and opencode becomes searchable in Leon.
FAQ

Questions.

Does Leon replace Cursor?

No. Cursor is an editor with agents. Leon is a workspace for agents. Its built-in file editor is for reading and quick edits, with no code completion. Many developers edit in Cursor and supervise fleets in Leon.

What about /best-of-n?

Cursor fans one prompt across models in isolated worktrees. In Leon you do the same by hand: one session per agent, compare, merge the winner.

Which costs more?

Cursor Pro is around $20/mo with a credit pool, plus cloud VM time. Leon is free. Either way you still pay the underlying model spend (as of Oct 2026).
